Iraq held Jordan 0-0 in the first half of Group D' s game at the AFC Asian Cup here on Monday.

The two teams which come from western Asia are familiar with each other, and they tried to score from the beginning. Iraq gained an early upper hand in the game. In the 16th minute, the first attempt of Iraqi captain Younis Mahmoud in the box almost opened the scoring.

Iraq sped up in counter attacks but Jordan defence was well organised. The first half was full of action but neither team had clear scoring chances.

Jordan conceded just three goals in their six qualification matches for the Asian Cup. Endi
