China ties Mexico 0-0 in Shenzhen women's soccer tourney

Xinhua, January 11, 2015 Adjust font size:

China tied Mexico 0-0 in "Bao'an Cup" international women's soccer tournament here on Sunday.

China, ranked 13th in the world, did well in defense but poorly in offense.

China's best opportunity came in the 62nd minute when Ren Jiaxin hit the goalpost.

Mexico also missed a good chance 11 minutes later as Charlyn Corral's shot was denied by China's Li Jiayue.

"We were aiming at scoring but the result is not what we desired for," said Hao Wei, China's head coach. "We had a better possession and we still need to work on details."

Also on Sunday, Canada came from behind to beat South Korea 2-1.

The four teams are preparing for the 2015 World Cup, which will kick off in June in Canada. Endi
