Hollande, Merkel meeting postponed

Xinhua, January 10, 2015 Adjust font size:

Sunday meeting in Strasbourg between French President Francois Hollande and German Chancellor Angela Merkel to discuss Franco-German relations was postponed Friday due to recent events in France.

The move follows Wednesday's terrorist attack on the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo in which 12 people were killed as well as Friday's hostage crisis in Paris.

On Monday, Hollande said the meeting was intended to be an informal affair, in the tradition of the "Blaesheim process" in which senior French and German politicians get together casually over dinner in a restaurant in Blaesheim, a village 20 km from Strasbourg. Endite
