Xinhua, January 9, 2015 Adjust font size:

Bayern Munich extended the deal with Pierre Emile Hojbjerg to agree on a loan deal with rivals Augsburg, both sides confirmed in an official statement on Thursday.

Despite a two-year contract extension with the German giants, youngster Hojbjerg will join rival Augsburg until the end of the current campaign. The 19-year-old midfielder extended his current contract for two years, keeping him with Bayern until June 2018. Both clubs agreed to keep silence over further contract details.

"The contract extension through 2018 is a clear sign for Pierre Emile Hojbjerg that Bayern will rely on him in future. At the same time, the loan deal with Augsburg until the end of the season is a good solution for him to gain match practice before he returns," Bayern Munich's director of sport Matthias Sammer said.

The Denmark international will reinforce Augsburg after making only 17 first team appearances in the Bayern dress since his arrival in September 2013.

"We are pleased that Pierre had decided in favor of Augsburg. He is convinced that he can continue to evolve here. With his arrival we do not only increase the quality of our squad but we are also increase our flexibility in the case of an injury," Augsburg's manager Stefan Reuter told the clubs official homepage.

The new arrival received the jersey number 19 and is expected to join the first trainings session on Friday.

"I am sure that Augsburg is the right club for me as the club has take a great development. I would like to integrate myself as soon as possible to help the team on the pitch," Hojbjerg said.

Augsburg's new midfielder Hojbjerg earned his first call up for Denmark's national soccer team in May 2014 to score one goal in five appearances to date.

Augsburg sit surprisingly on the 6th place of the Bundesliga standings, which would secure them a berth in the UEFA Europa League. Endite
