Asia's first sea aerogenerator has recently been installed in the East China Sea, off the coast of Shanghai.

According to Shanghai Investigation, Design & Research Institute, the over 90 meter tall wind power set is also the first of an upcoming sea aerogenerator plant that will involve 34 such windmills altogether, with an installed capacity of 100 megawatt.

Upon completion before the 2010 Shanghai Expo, the sea windpower plant is expected to provide green power supply for the Shanghai Expo.

These giant windmills will be also able to serve 100,000 households after the Expo mission.

China's total wind power capacity reached 10 million kilowatts in 2008, according to the National Development and Reform Commission.
