China South Grid Targets 5% Electricity Sales Rise for 2009

South Grid, one of China's two power distribution giants, has set a target to increase its electricity sales by 5 percent to 506.8 billion kilowatt-hours in 2009.
According to the target issued by the company in Guangzhou city on January 20, South Grid will transmit 121.6 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity from west to east China, up 15.1 percent from last year.
That figure includes 108.2 billion kilowatt-hours to Guangdong Province, a 16.9 percent rise from last year.
The 5 percent rise in sales target will attempt to ensure steady growth of the company in 2009.
