Post-1980 Career People Just Make Ends Meet

Most career people in the post-1980 generation make only moderate incomes, which are far from their expectations. Only one-fourth of them can make a monthly income over 3,000 yuan, according to an investigation published by the ChinaHR.com website last Thursday.

Talking about the post-1980 generation, most people think that these people usually spend lavishly and seldom save money. However, as the investigation shows, only 8% of the respondents spend more than they earn, while 40% of them in this group manage to save some money every month. In addition, 32% of the people say their income can just meet their monthly expenditure. On the whole, most people of this group can earn enough money to support themselves.

The survey also shows that as many of them entered the job market rather late in life, many of them are still working in the grass roots at present. 25% of them can make a salary over 3,000 yuan a month and 32% of the people can only earn less than 1,500 yuan a month. Faced with this meagre income, 76% of the people plan to earn more through learning. However, only 8% of the people would like to quit their jobs to do so. Most of them would not give up the jobs they currently have.

Most of the respondents taking the survey are between 22 and 27 years old. Among all the respondents, 42% have worked for one year or less and 58% have worked for at least two years. 72% of the respondents are ordinary workers while 23% of them are managers in their companies.
