The summit, featuring biological diversity this year, was held by Roots and Shoots. Roots and Shoots is a youth environmental educational program initiated by Dr. Jane Goodall, "Mother of Chimpanzees", in Tanzania in 1991. Goodall is one of the most respected women scientist-activists of the 20th century. For over 45 years, since her 20s, the English-native has studied chimpanzees in Africa. She received the United Nations Messenger of Peace award in 2002. [Xinhua]
