More than 1,500 farmers from Gansu, some bringing their children with them, boarded the special train to Xinjiang to work as cotton pickers, Xinhua reported. Each year, tens of thousands of people migrate to Xinjiang to work as cotton pickers, which has become an important income source for some regions. [Xinhua]
