2016 China Poverty Reduction International Forum

chinagate.cn, May 1, 2016 Adjust font size:

China issued the Decision to Win the Battle against Poverty last year, promised to take “extraordinary measures” to lift over 55 million rural people out of poverty in the next five years.

As the newly-revealed Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) required, extreme poverty should be eliminated by 2030 in the whole world. China will also actively support the agenda and take the responsibility to tackle the problem.

The Global Poverty Reduction & Inclusive Growth Portal aims to become a platform to share poverty reduction knowledge and best practices in China and around the world. We offer information such as poverty reduction news, events, experts’ opinions as well as the latest cases and researches to help officials, experts and the public to learn more about poverty and beyond.

Initiated by the World Bank and supported by the Asian Development Bank, this project is co-established and operated by China International Poverty Reduction Center and China Development Gateway. Think tanks from Asia, Africa and South America are also invited to participant in and contribute their wisdoms to this platform.

A launching ceremony for The Global Poverty Reduction & Inclusive Growth Portal will be held on the forum. Government officials and experts from home and abroad will have discussions around the theme of "China’s Poverty Reduction Experience Sharing Under the SDGs Framework". Officials from China’s State Council Information Office (SCIO), the State Council Leading Group Office of Poverty Alleviation and Development (LGOP), as well as representatives of World Bank, Asian Development Bank and other international organizations will be invited.
