Landslide Kills 4, Injures 2 in SW China

Four people died and two were injured after a landslide hit a village in southwest China's Yunnan Province, a local government source said on Thursday.

The rain-triggered landslide hit Agan Village, Baoshan City, at 8:05 AM on Tuesday, according to the Baoshan City government press office.

The bodies of the dead were retrieved late on Tuesday. The injured were being treated in hospital.

Fifteen other villagers threatened by the slide were also evacuated. They were currently living in five tents.

The local government also organized a safety inspection in an attempt to prevent further landslides in the area.
