Guo Jianxin, owner of Geely Dealership, said, "Hundreds of people stormed into my store after toppling the fence outside and knocking down the doors. They began smashing as soon as they were inside. Then I asked the staff to run. But one of them still got injured by the rioters."

Guo says the economic losses in his store are over three million yuan, or about US$440,000.

Guo Jianxin said, "I worked over ten years to open this dealership. Now it was completely destroyed within just two hours. I am very depressed. I don't know why the rioters did that to us."

Few citizens and cars were seen in the streets of Urumqi on Monday.

Local authorities are tightening security after the riot, in a bid to protect the city.
