Twenty-five people have died of A/ H1N1 flu in Canada, health officials said on Sunday.

The western province of Saskatchewan has recorded its first death, provincial Health Ministry officials said on Sunday. The victim was a woman in her 40s with underlying health conditions.

Another death was reported in Quebec on Friday, bringing the total in the province to 12.

Health officials in Manitoba also said Friday that an adult over 18 had died after testing positive for the illness, bringing the total number of deaths in that province to four.

The total number of confirmed cases of this new type of flu has risen to 7,775 in Canada, with 460 people hospitalized because of severe symptoms, according to figures released by the Public Health Agency of Canada Friday.
