Israel on Tuesday detected 29 new cases of influenza A/H1N1, bring the total number to 375 in the country, reported local news service Ynet on Wednesday.
All the patients were in mild conditions, and most of them had already recovered, said the report, quoting the Health Ministry. The report did not specify how and where these new patients contracted the virus.
Israel has recently witnessed a rapid increase of A/H1N1 cases. Previous reports indicated that while most cases were imported from overseas, the number of domestic infection in the nation was also on the rise.
In light of its rapid spread worldwide, the World Health Organization (WHO) raised earlier this month the A/H1N1 alert to its highest level, formally declaring that it had developed into a global pandemic.
According to the latest tally by the WHO, 100 countries and regions have officially reported at least 52,160 cases of influenza A/H1N1 infection, including 231 deaths.
