1 More Thai Quarantined After Returning from Japan

A 20-year-old Thai woman, who just returned from Japan, has been quarantined in a hospital in a southern province of Pang-nga from Tuesday after developing high fever.

The woman, who is from a northeastern province of Kalasin, was visiting her relatives in Pang Nga after visiting Japan recently, Pang Nga chief doctor Jessada Chaikunrat said.

Prior to coming to Pang Nga, she arrived at Phuket international airport from Japan. Later, she developed high fever and asked for medical examination, the doctor said.

The woman is a student of a Bangkok university.

The public health office in Pang Nga has also closely watched four relatives of this student, according to a news report by the Thai News Agency.

Laboratory tests to check if she has A/H1N1 flu have been conducted by the Public Health Ministry.

Since May 12, the Public Health Ministry said Thailand has had its first two A/H1N1 flu cases, however, the two patients have already recovered and will not spread the deadly flu disease to others. The two persons had returned from Mexico.

According to the World Health Organization, Thailand ranked the33rd the country, which has been hit by the deadly new virus.
