Canada's Confirmed A/H1N1 Flu Cases Rise to 496

The total of confirmed A/H1N1 flu cases in Canada rose to 496 on Friday, with 47 new cases added during the day, according to the latest figures from the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC).
The province of Ontario confirmed 32 new cases on Thursday, bringing the total number of cases in the province to 187, the most among all provinces.
All cases but one in the province have been mild, provincial health officials said.
British Columbia added four new cases, bringing the total to 100, the second most in the country while Saskatchewan reported two new cases and Quebec reported nine.
Up to now, 10 provinces or territories have reported infections.
Other provinces that have more cases are Alberta (67) and Nova Scotia (66).
As of May 15, 2009, half the cases are 24 years of age or younger with the median age at 21 years. The youngest is one year old and the oldest at 86 years old.
To date, 13 cases have been hospitalized and one death has been reported, the PHAC said in an analysis.
