The total of confirmed A/H1N1 flu cases in Canada has risen to 214, according to the latest figures released by the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) on Thursday.

Among the 13 new cases added Thursday, are three in Alberta, seven in Ontario, one in Quebec and two in Saskatchewan.

"We continue to see new cases confirmed in Canada, but it is important to remember that this is to be expected with any influenza outbreak," said Canadian Health Minister Leona Aglukaaq in a press release issued Thursday afternoon.

According to PHAC analysis, the majority of the cases are under the age of 50, the median age of Canadian cases is 22 years, there are no cases among people over the age of 66 and the majority of cases are linked to travel to Mexico.

So far nine out of Canada's 10 provinces and three territories have reported cases of H1N1 flu cases. Nearly all of the cases in Canada have been mild.
