One hundred and nine people aboard a flight from Russia were quarantined when the plane landed in Ulan Bator on Wednesday after two people who had traveled with some of these passengers were hospitalized in Moscow with flu-like symptoms, authorities said.
Two members of a Mongolian band that had performed in Mexico showed a fever when they were waiting to change flights in Moscow on Tuesday and were sent to a hospital there for treatment, while the other five members flew on to Ulan Bator, the General Authority for Emergency Management said.
As a result, Mongolian authorities decided to quarantine all 103 passengers and six crew members on the plane. The people will be isolated under medical surveillance for seven days.
The Mongolian Health Ministry has advised its residents to avoid public places and to take care of personal hygiene as a way to prevent the spread of the flu.
