Mexico Confirms 15 Deaths, 358 Cases of A/H1N1 Flu

Mexican Health Minister Jose Angel Cordova reported on Friday that 15 people have died of and 358 were infected with influenza A/H1N1 virus, after the analysis of 776 samples.
According to Cordova, of the 15 deaths, 11 were from Mexico City, two from State of Mexico, one from Oaxaca and one from Tlaxcala; 11 of them were women and four men and nine of them were between 21 and 40 years old.
Cordova said that till Thursday the authorities have checked 86 families of suspicious cases, making a total of 219 people and of them four people were positive on the influenza A/H1N1 virus, so they started to receive treatment.
Cordova also said that the lab tests were done in labs of Mexico, Canada and US and that on Friday they did 500 tests more.
Till Thursday there were done more than 17,000 preventive actions, 2,786 medical consultations, of them 12 people were hospitalized and 121 were evaluated to determine if the had the human flu virus, Cordova said in his daily press conference.
Cordova also said that there have been distributed 36,240 oseltamivir treatment, of them 11,520 were for Mexico City, 7,020 to medical units and 4,500 for prisons.
He also reported the they have bought 13 equipment for the virus diagnosis, 400,000 dosage of Oseltamivir, gloves, masks, anti bacterial gel, and other medicines.
