Five suspected cases of swine flu had been found in Austria by Tuesday evening and the final result will not be available until Wednesday, Austrian Health Minister Alois Stoeger said on Tuesday.

Stoeger told a press conference that there are four patients in capital Vienna, whose test results for swine flu (H1N1) showed positive.

Stoeger admitted that all of the suspected patients, having recently been to Mexico, were already quarantined and received necessary medication, but a series of tests are needed to confirm whether they are really infected with swine flu virus.

Stoeger assured at the same time that Austria has made necessary preparations in response to swine flu with sufficient medication. All of the expenses will come from the government budget. He stressed that "there is no question of cost with regard to people's health."

Stoeger also noted that people who have had contacts with the suspected patients have also been "brought under control" so far.

In another development, Austrian television ORF said on Tuesday that a woman, recently back from her vacation in Mexico , was also a suspected patient of swine flu, who were under treatment in a hospital in Austrian northern state Upper Austria with swine flu symptoms.
