India on Monday issued a travel advisory on swine flu, asking Indians to restrict travel to the United States, Mexico, Canada, New Zealand and France, reported local newspaper Times of India electronic edition on Monday.

The advisory was issued after the Union Health Ministry held a high-level meeting here with experts from National Institute of Communicable Diseases and Indian Council of Medical Research, to work out preliminary containment measures if the virus is reported in Asia, said the report.

All travelers flying into India from Mexico, the United States, Canada, New Zealand and France would be individually checked for flu symptoms such as fever and upper respiratory tract infection, according to the report.

Two doctors each will be stationed at major international airports while passengers who came from Mexico in the last 10 days will be located and doctors will visit them to have health check-up.

India has also stockpiled one million doses of "Tamiflu", the only medicine that could be effective in treating swine flu and labs will be set up to test suspected human samples of swine flu.
