"Some people come to me to report serious problems, though their information is usually insufficient. I will ask them to collect details for me. Some come to complain of a problem, but only through their own perspective. Later, I will inquire to different parties regarding this issue to get a full picture," she said.
Last April, Hu received a message from one of 89 migrant workers in a hardware factory in Zhuhai city of Guangdong, who reported their employer had not paid their salaries for a prolonged period.
She reported the situation to the provincial labor union and pressed for an investigation. At last, workers were paid more than 800,000 yuan (US$117,000) in unpaid salaries, along with compensation of 500,000 yuan.
"An NPC deputy should know whom she works for and be brave about speaking out. Even in the face of insults, I will never back down," Hu said.
"But one person can't solve all the problems. The country's migrant workers need more people like me."
