A Palestinian Islamic Hamas movement delegation led by political bureau chief Khalid Mashaal has arrived in Iran on Sunday, the official IRNA news agency reported.
Mashaal will hold talks with senior Iranian officials on major regional and international issues, the report said.
He is in Tehran as a part of his regional tour that "previously took him to Egypt, Qatar, Syria, and Turkey."
He traveled to Tehran to convey the gratitude of the Palestinians to Iranian officials for their "spiritual support for the Palestinian resistance" against Israel," IRNA said.
Mashaal is scheduled to deliver a speech at Tehran University on Monday, to attend Iranian parliament (Majlis) assembly on Tuesday and to hold separate meetings with senior Iranian officials, including supreme Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
Iran never hesitated to pronounce its all-out support for Hamas during the three-week unprecedented Israeli air and ground offensive on Gaza, during which about 1,400 Palestinians were killed and 5,500 others wounded.
