Five Palestinians, including a woman and a child, were killed early Saturday in Israeli air strikes against southern and northwestern Gaza, Al-Jazeera television reported.

The woman and child were killed in the bombardments against a school in the north of Gaza City.

More than 1,170 Palestinians have been killed since Israel launched air strikes and ground operations against Gaza Strip on December 27.

Israeli security cabinet is expected to vote on a Gaza truce proposal Saturday night, under which Israel will stop unilaterally and immediately fighting in Gaza for 10 days.

But so far, Israeli offensives against Gaza have showed no signs of cessation.

The Al-Jazeera also reported that Israel was hit Saturday by rockets fired from Palestinian territories.
