China wants a bigger role for developing countries in the International Monetary Fund. And it's calling for specific steps at the upcoming G20 summit towards that end. Two officials have briefed the media on the country's positions.

Assistant Central Bank Governor, Guo Qingping, says the summit in Pittsburgh should set further specific goals for transferring voting rights to developing ones in the IMF and World Bank. He also says China will proceed cautiously in promoting the yuan as an international currency.

Assistant Finance Minister Zhu Guangyao says China expects voting rights in both those institutions eventually to be equally distributed between developed and developing countries.
