In-form India breezed past Qatar 3-0 in the top-eight play-off of the Asian Games men's volleyball tournament Saturday.
It took India one hour and ten minutes to wrap up the match 25-15, 25-13, 25-20 with a superb display of serve and volley game.
Qatar's blockers made a ponderous start, allowing India to score a massive 11 points off Qatari errors to clinch the first set 25-15.
India continued their momentum in the second set and forced Qatar into an early time out, but it could not stop the flow of points as Qatar's back court defence split apart with the set finishing 25-13.
Qatar improved in the third set and led for the first time at the first technical time out at 8-7. But Navjit Singh produced a series of fine attacking play to put India in control again. With an error from Qatar's Ali Eshagh Bairam, Indai took the set 25-20 to seal a convincing win.
"I am very satisfied with the whole team, especially the captain. After beating Japan, our morale is very high," said Sridharan Garudapuram, head coach of India.
Also on Saturday, South Korea smashed Japan 25-23, 21-25, 25-23, 25-22 to claim their fifth consecutive win at the tournament.
