South Korea eased past Vietnam in straight sets in the first match of the 2010 Asian Games men's volleyball at the Guangyao Gymnasium here on Saturday.

It took the South Koreans 59 minutes to seal the victory at 25-12, 25-10 and 25-16.

The heavily favoured South Korean team started its young players and kept ace Kim Yo-Han off the court until the end of the second set.

Kim Hak-Min lead the game with 11 points while Moon Sung-Min and Park Chul-Woo each added 10 for South Korea team.

South Korea's powerful hits created confusion among the vietnamese players. With Ngo Van Kieu spiking the ball out of the court, South Korea closed the set 25-12.

South Korea breezed through the second set, with Park and Moon running the court, the east Asian team rallied to the second set win with 25-10.

Vietnam created several sharp attacks by Pham Ngoc Kein and Pham Thai Hung, but Kim Yo-Han's serves and spikes quickly dispelled a comeback. Ko Hee-Jin sealed the South Korea's 25-16 victory with a kill to the right side of the court.

Le Quang Khanh scored nine points to lead the Vietnam team, but he could not get assistance from his teammates as Ngo Van Kieu had five points to become the second high scorer of the team.

South Korea's next match will be against India next Monday, while Vietnam is to face Kazakhstan, also on next Monday.
