HK's Export, Import Down over 10% in December

The value of Hong Kong's total goods export and import fell sharply by 12.8 percent and 17 percent respectively in December year on year, the Census and Statistics Department of Hong Kong said on Monday.
Comparing 2008 with 2007, the volume of total goods exports grew 2.9 percent while that of goods imports rose 2.6 percent. The volume of goods re-exports rose 4 percent while that of domestic exports slumped 22 percent.
The price of total goods exports rose 3.5 percent while those of goods imports rose 2.6 percent. The price of total goods exports rose 3.8 percent last year while that of goods imports increased 4.4 percent.
