China National Offshore Oil Company Limited (CNOOC) announced on Monday the company had successfully started up an independent oil field in East China's Bohai Sea.

The oil field, Qinhuangdao (QHD) 33-1, is in the mid-western part of Bohai Bay with a water depth of about 21 meters. It is producing approximately 2,000 barrels of oil per day via two wells, said CNOOC.

CNOOC Ltd holds 100 percent interest of QHD 33-1 and acts as its operator.

The oil drilled from QHD33-1 will be transferred to an adjacent field QHD 32-6 via subsea pipeline for processing, storage and transportation, said CNOOC.
