Chinese shares rose 2.78 percent on Wednesday, the first time in four trading days, led by gains of heavyweights.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index advanced 2.78 percent to close at 2,468.19 points. The Shenzhen Component Index gained 3.06 percent to 9.383.21 points.
