World leaders are likely to commit to further stimulus spending to tackle the global financial crisis when they meet in London this week, Australian Finance Minister Lindsay Tanner said on Sunday.

"There's different views ... the Americans have acted to stimulate economic activity (and) there's some European countries who are resisting," Tanner told Sky News.

Tanner expected to see overall support for continued global stimulus.

Greater regulation of the global financial sector, a boost in aid to developing nations and reforming global institutions will also be discussed, Tanner said.

Leaders of the world's 20 largest economies will meet in London on Thursday to discuss, among other things, a global response to the economic downturn.
