Food security, fluctuating food prices and world hunger will be key issues at the meeting of Group of Eight (G8) agricultural ministers to be held in Italy next month, Italian Agriculture Minister Luca Zaia said on Monday in Milan.
Italy was particularly concerned over fluctuating food prices, Zaia said.
The meeting, to be held on April 18-20 in the northern Italian town of Cison di Valmarino, will also deal with increasing productivity in developing countries and the identity of food products.
Apart from ministers from G8 members, also attending the meeting will be Czech Agriculture Minister Petr Gandalovic, whose country is holding current European Union presidency, EU Agriculture Commissioner Marianne Fischer Boel and ministers from Brazil, China, India, Mexico, South Africa and Egypt as well as representatives from the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
