South Korea's finance minister- designate Yoon Jeung-hyun said that he will make every effort to boost up the job market and domestic consumption, the Yonhap News Agency reported on Friday.
"Putting emphasis on job creation, I plan to take strong and proactive fiscal measures to prompt domestic spending," Yoon said at his confirmation hearing at the National Assembly.
Yoon said he believed that the Korean economy can surmount the current economic difficulties as the nation is equipped with "past experiences in overcoming crises and the people's potential," according to the news agency.
The minister-designate urged market participants to make cooperative efforts with the government, citing limitations in policies carried out solely by the government.
He also emphasized that he would expand support, including tax benefits, for companies that create more job opportunities
Yoon, former head of the Financial Supervisory Commission, was nominated by President Lee Myung-bak in late January.
