At least 10 people were injured after an explosion in a firework factory Wednesday morning in Hohhot, capital city of northern China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

Death toll is not yet available.

Nine injured people were taken to hospital and Xinhua reporters saw one more man, with his arm wounded, being taken to the local police at the scene for further arrangement.

The accident happened at around 9:40 AM at the Chunhua Firework Factory in Zhaohao village of Shandai Town, Tumote Left Banner.

Baoyibatu, head of the regional work safety administration, said the Chunhua Firework Factory was an unlicensed workshop. Small explosions were continuing at the scene, making it hard for rescuers to carry out rescue operations at the blast site.

Local police are seeking the owner of the workshop, who had disappeared after the explosion.
