Chinese Senior Leader Urges Reform, Innovation in Publicity

Liu Yunshan, a senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC), on Saturday said the country's publicity work on ideology and culture needs reform and innovation to adapt to new situations and increase vitality.
Liu, head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks to publicity officials from local Party committees at a workshop held Saturday.
"The environment, targets and areas for publicity have all changed. It's a must to push forward reform and innovation, to follow the trend of the times, to enrich contents and forms, and to broaden channels and carriers," Liu said.
"(Publicity departments) should actively adapt to the new trend of integrating various social studies and learn from other studies as well as experience from abroad," Liu said.
Liu also stressed that publicity departments should take full advantage of modern technologies to spread advanced culture. Liu said.
