Swine Flu Confirmed Cases Rise in Spain

Spanish Health Ministry confirmed on Wednesday that other six people have the swine flu, which makes a total of 10 infected in Spain.

From the most recent cases, two were in Catalonia, two in Castilla-La Mancha, one to Valencia and one in Basque, the Ministry said.

There are 53 cases to be confirmed because the patients have the symptoms of the swine flu, the ministry added.

One of the infected patients in Catalonia did not travel to Mexico and is the first case of indirect infections registered in Spain.

Spanish sanitary authorities study different cases in different communities, most of them young people between 21 and 30 years old who recently arrived from Mexico.

From the 159 death people of atypical pneumonia in Mexico, the authorities and the World health Organization (WHO) confirmed that only seven died due to swine flu, while US registered the first death due to the swine flu in its territory.

Carlos III Hospital in Madrid has blocked the entrance of ordinary patients to let free beds for patients possibly infected with the swine flu.

The World Health Organization (WHO) rose on Wednesday the alert to phase 5 of 6.
