Pingluo County in China's Ningxia emerges as major seed production hub

Pingluo County has emerged as a major seed production hub, benefiting from abundant sunlight, wide day-night temperature variations and well-developed agricultural infrastructure.

In recent years, the county has strengthened its focus on rice seed production and vegetable seed breeding, building an integrated seed industry that spans breeding, production and marketing.

The county now has about 80,000 mu (5,333 hectares) of fields devoted to seed production. The annual seed output has reached approximately 21 million kilograms, generating an output value of more than 430 million yuan (about 64.22 million U.S. dollars). (Xinhua/Liu Hai)
