Hainan Tropical Rainforest National Park Scenic Road opens

The Hainan Tropical Rainforest National Park Scenic Road welcomed the public on Sunday, boasting a total investment exceeding 5 billion yuan ($690 million). Spanning 466 kilometers, the road winds through mountains and hills, linking towns and villages across nine cities and counties, including Lingshui, Baoting, Sanya, Ledong, Dongfang, Changjiang, Baisha, Danzhou and Qiongzhong, showcasing a blend of natural and cultural landscapes along its route.
In addition to Hainan's picturesque road network, the Hainan Tropical Rainforest National Park Scenic Road complements the scenic beauty of the Hainan Coastal Scenic Highway. The new road features an inner loop encircling the mountains and an outer loop hugging the coast. This integration of mountain and sea vistas aims to propel comprehensive tourism development in Hainan province, playing a pivotal role in establishing a national ecological civilization pilot zone and an international tourism consumption center.
Emphasizing an ecological ethos, the road's construction prioritizes environmental considerations over costs, according to Deng Jinsong, deputy chief engineer of Hainan Highway Construction Project Management Co, who played a key role in overseeing the project's design and construction. He said that builders integrated ecological principles throughout the construction process, leveraging innovative technologies, techniques, equipment, and materials to fortify the road's ecological foundation, harness environmental benefits, and propel sustainable development.
The newly opened section of the Hainan Tropical Rainforest National Park Scenic Road meanders through a tapestry of tourist attractions, including the Baoting Yanoda Rainforest Cultural Tourism Zone and the Baoting Betelnut Valley Li and Miao Cultural Heritage Park. Along the route, 36 natural landscapes, such as the Baisha Jiujialing Ridge, are dispersed across the nine cities and counties, each accentuating unique themes and tourism highlights.
