University graduate works as village doctor to safeguard health of locals

Sun Yi measures the blood pressure of a villager at Qianyang Village, Donggang City of northeast China's Liaoning Province, April 6, 2021. Sun Yi, born in 1997, works as a village doctor in Qianyang Village. After graduating from college majored in clinical medicine, she decided to return to her hometown and safeguard the health of the locals. Qianyang Village has a population of over 14,000, where quite a number of people suffer from high blood pressure and diabetes. Some aged villagers are left behind by their children who work as migrant workers in other towns and cities. Sun visits these elders regularly and is also responsible for recording data of health conditions for the villagers with colleagues. Besides, she also holds health lectures and publicizes medical knowledge. Sun is proud of her work. "I grow up here and know many of the patients. I want to serve them with all I learnt and ensure them a better and healthier life," She said. (Xinhua/Cai Xiangxin)
