Inheritor of thin body porcelain in Jiangxi

Photo taken on Oct. 28, 2019 in Jingdezhen, east China's Jiangxi Province, shows a finished thin body porcelain cup (R) is much thinner than the semi-finished one. Xiong Guoan, an inheritor of thin body porcelain in Jingdezhen of Jiangxi, learnt the art from his father when he was 12 years old. Working in the field for 47 years, he insists for perfection in the making procedures. The shaping of the unburnt porcelain is the essence of the craft, during which craftsman will use tools to peel the unburnt porcelain until it can be penetrated by the light. Xiong's skill has allowed him to make thin body porcelain with a thickness of about 0.15 millimeter. (Xinhua/Zhou Mi)
