Singapore stocks close 2.12 pct lower

SINGAPORE, May 30 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed lower on Wednesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) going down 2.12 percent, or 74.53 points, to close at 3,443.95.

A total of 2.03 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.9 billion Singapore dollars (about 1.41 billion U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 353 to 126.

The STI index closed up 0.15 percent, or 5.25 points, to close at 3,518.48 on Monday.

The Singapore Exchange was closed Tuesday for the Vesak Day. Enditem
