Freiburg sign Cologne defender Heintz

BERLIN, May 23 (Xinhua) -- Freiburg have completed the transfer of defender Dominique Heintz from relegated Cologne, both sides announced on Wednesday.

The "Breisgauer" signed Heintz to strengthen the team for the upcoming season. Freiburg and relegated Cologne agreed to keep silence over contract details.

"Dominique has shown very stable and consistent performance over the past seasons in Cologne. He has gained a lot of experience at the highest level. In addition to his defensive qualities he will do our game well," Freiburg chairman Jochen Saier said.

The 24-year-old wore Cologne's jersey since summer 2015 to make overall 96 appearances, providing three goals and two assists.

"I have recently experienced very emotional encounters against Freiburg and was impressed by the way the club plays and works. I would like to develop further in this environment here. I am looking forward to working with the new colleagues," Heintz told the club's official homepage.

Freiburg was involved in the relegation battle this season as they finished the Bundesliga season 2017-2018 on the 15th place of the standings. Enditem
