SEOUL -- The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) was removing propaganda loudspeakers from the border area with South Korea in a bid to enforce the Panmunjom Declaration, announced after the inter-Korean summit last week, local media reported Tuesday citing the South Korean military.

An unidentified South Korean military official was quoted by local media as saying moves were spotted earlier in the day pulling back loudspeakers from the frontline areas. (S.Korea-DPRK-Loudspeakers)

SINGAPORE -- Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said the "trade tension" between China and the United States could easily lead to a more serious friction that affect the stability and security of the world.

Lee made the statement while delivering his 2018 May Day Rally speech on Tuesday. He said Singapore's economy depends on external environment, and the growing friction has clouded the outlook. (Singapore-Trade)

YANGON -- Myanmar State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi has reiterated the government's readiness to receive back displaced persons fleeing Rakhine conflict to Bangladesh after verification, calling for cooperation with the Bangladesh side to expedite the repatriation process, according to the foreign ministry Tuesday.

Aung San Suu Kyi made the remarks when she met with a delegation made up of permanent representatives to the United Nations (UN), representatives from immediate neighbors of Myanmar to the UN, current chair of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and member states of the UN Security Council in Nay Pyi Taw on late Monday. NEW DELHI -- Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi would kick-start election campaign and address rallies Tuesday in southwestern state of Karnataka, officials said.

Local elections in the state are scheduled to take place on May 12.
