LUSAKA, April 26 (Xinhua) -- The following are news highlights in Zambia's major media outlets on Thursday.
-- Zambian President Edgar Lungu has called for an integrated and coherent strategy to eliminate malnutrition through promotion of good nutrition countrywide.
The Zambian leader, in remarks delivered at the start of a National Food and Nutrition Summit, said the causes of malnutrition were complex and interconnected and urged stakeholders to rise to the challenge of promoting good nutrition. (Zambia Daily Mail)
-- The Zambian government says it has a shortfall of 335 million U.S. dollars required to eliminate malaria by 2021 and appealed to donors to help the country mobilize the required resources. (Times of Zambia)
-- Authorities in Lusaka, the Zambian capital swung into action and seized products from some supermarkets found with a high content of Genetically Modified Organisms.
Officials from the National Biosafety Authority confiscated products from the supermarkets which had GMOs in excess of 0.9 percent as recommended by the government. (Daily Nation)
