French shares gain 0.48 pct on Monday

PARIS, April 23 (Xinhua) -- French shares edged up on Monday, with the benchmark Paris CAC 40 up 0.48 percent, or 25.72 points, to close at 5,438.55 points.

A total of 26 of the 40 selected large companies gained in the day.

European aeronautic giant Airbus advanced 2.11 percent, the top gainers of the blue chips. TechnipFMC, a UK-based company that provides complete project life cycle services rose 1.86 percent, followed by French multinational mirror manufacturer Compagnie de Saint-Gobain, which gained 1.28 percent.

Pernod Ricard SA, a French company that produces and sells wines and spirits went down by 1.83 percent, the top loser of the blue chips. French industrial group Legrand lost 1.10 percent. French ophthalmic lenses producer Essilor edged down 0.87 percent. Enditem
