Foreign players arrive in Uganda ahead of Para-Badminton International Open

KAMPALA, April 23 (Xinhua) -- Foreign players have begun arriving ahead of the 2018 Uganda Para-Badminton International Open Championship, slated to be held here from April 25-29.

Simon Mugabi, the CEO of the Uganda Badminton Association, said on Monday that players from Egypt, Cameroon, Kenya, and Ghana have already started arriving in the country ahead of the second edition of the Championship.

Mugabi added that soon after the Uganda Para-Badminton International Championship, Uganda will host the 2018 BWF Para-Badminton African Championship from April 30-May 5.

He said the Badminton World Federation (BWF), together with the Badminton Confederation of Africa will partly fund the two Championships.

Mugabi said they are also expecting players from France, Israel, Poland, Brazil, Scotland, Malaysia and DR Congo to take part in the two tournaments.

Among the stars who will take part in the two Para-Badminton Championships in Uganda include the reigning world champions Anand Kumar Boregowda and Manoj Sarkarthe of India. Enditem
