OSCE urges improvement of checkpoints in eastern Ukraine

Xinhua,April 20, 2018 Adjust font size:

MINSK, April 18 (Xinhua) -- Ensuring security and improving the work of checkpoints in eastern Ukraine remains an urgent topic for the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) on Ukraine, the special representative of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) said Wednesday.

Martin Sajdik, a member of the TCG, told reporters that "the improvement of checkpoints and the opening of new ones" remains a significant topic for the TCG in order to handle the difficulties encountered by civilians at the existing checkpoints.

Sajdik said the situation in the conflict zone in eastern Ukraine "has been far from stable."

The next meeting of the TCG will be held on May 4.

The TCG is a group of representatives from Ukraine, Russia and the OSCE that was formed to facilitate a diplomatic solution to the conflict in eastern Ukraine. Enditem
