British stocks up 1 pct Tuesday

LONDON, April 10 (Xinhua) -- British stocks rose on Tuesday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 1.00 percent, or 72.00 points, to close at 7,266.75 points.

Anglo American, a multinational mining company, soared 5.07 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Antofagasta and BHP Billiton increased by 4.52 percent and 3.54 percent respectively.

United Utilities Group, a water company, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 2.93 percent. Coca-Cola HBC, a bottler of Coca-Cola products, dropped 2.74 percent. Severn Trent, a water company, fell 2.14 percent. Enditem
