OSCE urges conflicting parties in Donbas for full compliance with Easter truce

Xinhua,April 05, 2018 Adjust font size:

MINSK, April 4 (Xinhua) -- Martin Sajdik, special representative of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), urged conflicting parties in Donbas on Wednesday for the full observance of the Easter truce.

Sajdik, a member of the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) on Ukraine, thanked all parties for their efforts in establishing the Easter truce announced on March 30. The number of ceasefire violations significantly decreased since then, he added.

On the other hand, Sajdik noted that it was not possible to achieve a complete regime of silence during the Roman Catholic and Protestant Easter. The diplomat urged "the parties to make every effort and fully observe the ceasefire on the eve of the Orthodox Easter and after it."

Commenting on the results of the talks in Minsk, the diplomat said that the parties also discussed further steps to restore mobile communications in Donbas, paying pensions, water supply and prisoners exchange.

The next meeting of the TCG, a group of representatives from Ukraine, Russia and the OSCE, will take place on April 18. Enditem
