Lebanon vows full review of tax law to fight corruption

BEIRUT, April 4 (Xinhua) -- Lebanese President Michel Aoun said Wednesday that the country's tax law must be subject to a comprehensive review for joint citizen-state efforts to combat corruption.

"A comprehensive review of Lebanon's tax law since the independence must be considered," Aoun told a delegation of the Lebanese Tax Association, highlighting the need for "stable taxation schemes that attract investment and strengthen productive sectors."

The Lebanese president also emphasized the close link between taxes and fighting corruption.

"Fighting corruption and tax evasion is a responsibility shared by the citizen and the state," he noted, as "taxes are a cornerstone of encouraging investments, especially foreign ones." Enditem
